Equipment

  • Scissor
  • Glue Gun

Ingredients

Construction Paper

  • 1 piece paper Dark Green
  • 3 piece paper Light Green
  • 1 piece paper Red

Accessories

  • 1 bag Sparkle Chenille pipe cleaners Christmas Colors
  • 1 pack pom poms Red & Green
  • 1-3 pack glitter Christmas Colors (as desired)

Glue

  • 1 rubber cement or glue stick
  • 1 hot glue stick or Elmer's Glue

Instructions

Trace Hands

  • Have your child trace their hand on either light or green construction paper. Trace the same hand twice on the same sheet of paper, leaving you with two traced hands on one sheet

Cut Out Hands

  • Stack sheets on top of each other to cut multiple hand patterns at a time. Depending on how good your scissors are, you may need to split into batches, so stack 3-4sheets, cut, repeat until you have 10-12 hands cutout.

Stack Paper

  • Stack sheets for cutting. This is where I missed, I traced and cut out each hand individually, big pain!

Assemble Wreath

  • Place red construction paper flat on table.
  • Lay green hand cutouts in desired location to form a wreath.

Decorate

  • Make bow out of pipe cleaner
  • Glue pom poms on wreath as desired
  • Glue glitter on wreath as desired

Wreath trimming tips

  • Measure once, cut once – Stack the paper when cutting to get multiple hand cutouts at once. Hands-down the worst mistake I made in this project was cutting out each hand individually!
  • Get a Kit – I recommend buying a kit like this Christmas Pom Pom Kit instead of buying each supply individually.
  • Glitter control – Don’t let your kids open the glitter, my daughter dropped it on the floor and I’ll be dealing with the fallout into next year.
  • Glue Gunnin’ – Get a glue gun, it holds best and was only $5 bux.

Would I make this again? Yes, but will definitely stack the paper to save time. Crafts aren’t my specialty, but this holiday wreath craft is an easy craft idea for parents of any skill level. As the at-home winter season rolls on, I’ll share more easy activities my family creates to beat the COVID-19 quarantine blues. Would love to hear what activities you’re doing to get through the season and build family memories.

Thanks,
Britt
