The actual trail was a real taste of the native landscape and we were shown flowers and berries along the way and even ate some which were safe.Easily the best part was being able to fill a water bottle from a mountain spring and drink from it without fear which for me was a real back to nature bucket list experience. arranged a bus to get us back on time. Kelen was very knowledgeable and made us very aware of where we are and what is and isn't safe to do (don't eat berries unless told you can like the "super genius" on our hike). On the train ride up to the glacier, the guides would tell us about upcoming look out spots so we could go outside on the platforms to take pictures. They also provided gear and snacks, keeping everyone comfortable and safe.Aside from the gorgeous local scenery, our child's favorite part was the "enchanted forest" and sampling local berries. It was cold at first but you warm up within minutes when you start kayaking. But as I looked around, it was clearly a challenge for everyone, including our guides. It is a 3.5 mile trek each way through the woods and some rocky terrain. Our guides asked if we wanted to call one spot the turn-around point, but a show of hands - including my own - voted to continue onward. This town of 1000 residents which barely measures five city blocks square is pretty much the polar opposite of any destination I'd ordinarily choose to visit.
