Christmas Tree Farms Are The Best Family Activity
Families are struggling to find creative ways to get out of the house as COVID-19 closures are making parents stir crazy. Ok, enough grinching around, get off the couch and smell the…Christmas Trees! Christmas Tree Farms are the best family activity this season. Cutting down your own tree is a fun way to get fresh air and start a new family tradition to brighten your sprits this holiday.
The Christmas Tree Farm – A Family Tradition
Each year my family makes a trip to a local tree farm in Minnesota called Hansen Tree Farm. It’s a beautiful, 40 acre outdoor destination with a variety pines, spruces and fir trees. We love walking through the rows of trees to find the perfect tree. Normally we would also enjoy hay rides, hot chocolate, and the gift shop, but are closed temperately due to COVID-19. Nonetheless, campfire sites with pine-filled backdrops offered plenty attempts to take a family Christmas Card photos. I say attempted because there’s no such thing as a perfect photo with two year-old “gremlin” twins and an ambitious five year-old. More about my family found here.
Tips to Spruce up your Tree Hunt
- Go early in season – it’s warmer and selection can’t be beat.
- Bring your camera – half the people there are couples taking pictures because it’s an insta-worthy wonderland.
- Chainsaws FTW – While the tree farm provides hand saws, a chain saw rips through that spruce with ease. Timberrrrrr!
