How to Make a Delicious Hot Toddy

What is a Hot Toddy? Basically booze, sugar, hot water with lemon & spices. It helps ease cold symptoms and is a great warm-up cocktail to beat cold winter months. Every winter I search for the best Hot Toddy recipe, but each one I try leaves me feeling, “meh, it’s ok.” So my wife and I created our own recipe after finding an amazing vanilla tea from one of her friends. We thought, if this tea is so great, it must be even better with alcohol! And with that, boom, here is the recipe for how to make a delicious Hot Toddy.
Delicious Bourbon Hot Toddy
A simple recipe for a bourbon & tea hot toddy to beat the cold winter months.
Equipment
- Tea Kettle
Ingredients
Spirits
- 2 oz. Bourbon I use Bulleit Bourbon, could also use whiskey.
Produce
- 1 small Lemon Squeeze juice from half a lemon. A small lemon can make two drinks.
- Lemon peel for garnish
Other Ingredients
- boiling water to fill a mug
- 1 tsp honey or 1 honey stick
- 1 bag Harney & Sons Vanilla Comoro Tea Decaf
Instructions
Boil Water
- Boil water in tea kettle, enough to fill a mug
Prep Mug while water boils
- Add honey to base of mug
- Peel lemon for garnish
- Squeeze lemon juice into mug
- Place tea bag in mug
Mix Cocktail after water boils
- Pour hot water over tea bag, honey & lemon mixture in the mug
- Add Bourbon
- Finish with lemon peel for garnish
